Subscription Basics:
How much are subscriptions?
A single subscription is $24.97 US (47% off the cover price of most of our titles). Each additional subscription is $22.97 (52% off the cover price of most of our titles). Additionally we have some special combination offers featuring two or more of our best titles at a single, convenient price. (If you order a combination, each additional single title you purchase will be priced at $22.97.)
Why don't you offer subscriptions to more Marvel titles?
Marvel Subscriptions is constantly reviewing its offering and if there is a title that you believe should be offered please write us. In general, only ongoing titles with a significant and demonstrated demand base are available by mail through Marvel Subscriptions. We make note of requests in assessing demand for subscriptions offerings.
Can I get Marvel one-shots or mini-series through subscriptions?
Marvel Subscriptions only offers ongoing Marvel titles for subscriptions. To purchase a mini-series, one-shot, or other single issue, go to your local comic book retailer. Please
click here or call the following number to find a retailer in your area: 1(888) COMICBOOK.
How does Marvel define the term of its subscriptions--by number of books delivered or by calendar year?
A full subscription is for 12 issues of a title.
Will my subscription start with issue #1 or with the current issue?
A subscription begins with the most current issue released after the order has been processed. If you are presently purchasing comics through a retail outlet it is recommended that you continue to do so for one to two more issues. Marvel Subscriptions does not sell back issues.
Are there additional costs for Canadian and International orders?
Yes. Non-US orders must add $14US for each 12-issue subscription ordered. These additional costs cover shipping and handling. All subscriptions must be paid for in US funds.
How long does it take to receive my first comic when I subscribe?
Domestic subscribers should allow 6-8 weeks before delivery of their first issue. International subscribers should allow 8-10 weeks before delivery of their first issue. Your first issue may take longer than indicated if the particular title you've subscribed to has encountered production delays.
Is it safe to order subscriptions using my credit card on the Marvel web-site?
Marvel uses on-line industry best practices when it comes to protecting your security and privacy. As long as your current browser supports secure credit card transactions, your transaction will be safe. To determine if your browser supports secure credit card transactions, look at the bottom left corner of your browser. When you are at a secure site, you will see a closed padlock on Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox browsers. If the site is not secure, the key will appear broken and the padlock will appear unlocked.
Does Marvel use a rating system?
Yes. The following system is used on all subscription titles:
- ALL AGES - Appropriate for readers of All Ages.
- A - Appropriate for readers Ages 9 and Up.
- T+ - Teens and Up. Appropriate for most readers 13 and up, parents are advised they may want to read before or with younger children.
- Parental Advisory - 15+ years old. Similar to T+, but featuring more mature themes and/or more graphic imagery. Recommended for teen and adult readers.
Each title's rating is displayed in it's listing on this site and near the UPC symbol on the cover of any individual issue.
Which titles are appropriate for children?
Marvel recently introduced the Marvel Adventures imprint with a focus on kid-friendly content. Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man is the most popular title in this series. Advertising and editorial in every issue are appropriate for all ages. You can also use the Pick-A-Comic feature on the site to find more kid-friendly titles.
I haven't read comics in a long time and was hoping that you might recommend a title for the uninitiated.
You can also use the
Pick-A-Comic feature on our site to find titles recommended for new readers.
Why does it take so long for my subscription to start?
It takes approximately one to two weeks for your subscription to be processed and scheduled. Your subscription is then added to the next production cycle and shipped via periodicals rate mail. For example, if your monthly subscription was ordered and received in January, and the February issue has already shipped, your order may be added to the March mailing. Marvel Subscriptions asks that you allow 6 to 8 weeks (domestic customers) and 6 to 10 weeks (international customers) for delivery to start.
Are Annuals included in a subscription?
Annuals are not included in subscriptions at this time.

Others receive books on the retail on-sale date or a few days later. From time to time, there may be delays in delivery, and Marvel has no control over delivery once we give books to the United States Postal Service. Please check with your local post office to insure that your mail is not being affected due to an incorrect mailing address or any other postal-related matter. To ensure that our subscribers receive all of their comics in a timely manner, we mail each comic out separately as soon as it is printed.
How long does it take for a refund to be processed?
It will take two credit card statements before your refund is reflected on your statement. If you paid by check or money order allow 8-10 weeks for your request to be processed and a check put in the mail. Upon arrival, please deposit your check in a timely fashion, all checks that are not deposited within one year of issuance will be cancelled.
What do I do if my copy arrives damaged?
If your copy arrives in an unacceptable condition contact Marvel Subscriptions immediately for a replacement copy. Marvel Subscriptions maintains a limited supply of previous issues for replacement purposes. If the quantity of lost comics reported becomes excessive, however, we will place the account under review and notify the customer. Reporting a title as lost in no way reflects negatively on your account. Monitoring areas of loss helps provide valuable information to our postal liaison to ensure the effective delivery of Marvel Subscriptions.
What if my issues frequently arrive damaged?
If your issues frequently arrive damaged, please contact us for a further explanation of the situation. Please keep in mind that your mailbox may be too small for the magazine. If this is the case, please try to arrange with your letter carrier to place the magazine in a different area. Effective June 2002, all re-shipment for domestic subscribers will be limited to two (2) issues per subscription. In addition, subscribers requesting re-shipments will be asked to communicate any problems with delivery to their local postmaster.
The procedure is as follows:
After the first call for a re-shipment the subscriber will be asked to request that his/her local post office place a publication watch on the subscription. The subscriber will need to contact the local postmaster and fill out a Magazine Watch PS Form 3721. This will allow the postal service to monitor and discern the source of the problem.
When a second re-shipment request is made, the subscriber will be asked to submit a formal complaint to the local post office and have a copy forwarded to our offices. This complaint will be passed on to our liaison at the USPS for further investigation.
My title has been cancelled. What are my options?
If a title you have subscribed to has been cancelled, you have several options. You can request a refund for undelivered copies, have your subscription balance transferred to another title or an extension on an existing subscription.
I cancelled my subscription but still received a comic the next month. Do I have to make the cancellation request again?
Depending on when you made your request it is possible that a copy will already be in the mail to you. Therefore, it is likely that your request was received and being processed even though you received another issue. Please contact us if you get more than 2 issues following your request.
How can I find out when my subscription expires?
Your address label on every issue shows the number of issues remaining in your subscription.
I received a renewal letter, but I already paid.
Please disregard any invoice or renewal notice received after mailing your payment or renewal order. They probably crossed in the mail.
I'm having technical problems with the Marvel.com subscription center. Who do I contact for technical help?
Please insure that any difficulty in processing your order is not a result of the following:
- Using spaces or hyphens when entering telephone or zip code information.
- A correct e-mail address has been entered in ALL required fields.
For technical difficulties, e.g., failure to send data, inability to view online form, page errors, etc. please write to
